Ar. Ho and Deputy Chairman, Ar. Wong attended a talk by the guest speaker, Dr. Myron Shekelle, conservation biologist from US held on 1 March 2010 at Le Meridien Hotel, Kota Kinabalu.The topic was ‘’Climate Change’’ and its impact on Asia. The chosen animal ‘’Slow Loris’’[Tarsier] a tiny nocturnal animal with big round eyes was the subject  studied for over 13 years in Sulawesi [Indonesia] and how climate change will affect the decline of these animals. This talk was sponsored by the US Embassy KL.


IPDM Council members were in Kota Kinabalu on 31 March 2010 to launch the MIDA 2010 for Design and Industry Excellence at the Ocean Seafood Restaurant.

It was a simple ceremony attended by IPDM Sabah members and PAM Sabah Chapter committee members. A baton was brought from IPDM HQ where it was passed on by the longest serving MIDA Chairman, Ar. Chris Yap to the current MIDA Chairman, Ms Monie Mohariff and then from one council member to another to finally reach the President.

The IPDM President, Encik Mohd Suhaimi Fadzir then un-leach the scroll to the sound of confetti and applause and declared the opening of the Malaysian Interior Design Awards 2010 for Design and Industry Excellence.

id-x 2010 (Interior Design Exhibition) was officially launched by Assistant Minister of Local Government & Housing, YB Datuk Edward Yong Oui Fah on behalf of the Minister of Local Government & Housing, YB Datuk Haji Hajiji Haji Noor on 1 April 2010 at City Mall, Kota Kinabalu.

A total of 26 exhibitors comprising interior decorators, landscapers, building material manufacturers/suppliers, housing developers and kitchen designers participated. The exhibition also displayed the outstanding works that have won the highly coveted “Malaysia Interior Design Awards’’ (MIDA) for design Excellence in 2009.

During the 4-days exhibition, other interesting events such as daily lucky draw and children’s coloring and drawing competition were held. The competition is categorized into 2 categories i.e. 7-9 years (coloring) 10-12 years (drawing). The theme for the competition is Green Aspiration: A Future Champion.

A total of 83 school children participated in this competition. Prizes for the competition were sponsored by Colourcoil Industries Sdn Bhd, a local metal roofing and wall cladding manufacturer with high performance pre-painted steel products.
