AREA OF DISCUSSION
In the second episode, we shall examine how our much-touted e-government has fared during the COVID 19 MCO. Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm. So, the test of a country’s resilience is effectiveness of government machinery in the time of crisis.

Expectations from investments in e-government are high; and many of us may have found pretty but ineffectual websites and inoperative services disappointing during the height of the MCO. The level of government closest to the people, the local government seemed strangely absent as telephone calls and email went unanswered, websites unresponsive. With their insistence of online submissions, surely that aspect of their business ought to have been functional.

But is that a fair statement? How do we, as stakeholders, help improve the way things are done? How do we prepare for the next crisis? Together with our panelists we will explore these questions and learn more about our local authorities and e-government.
