Synopsis :
What does it mean to practice? Put in another way, how does an architect practice in the future? This forum collects a young group of architects to discuss on the possible trajectories of how future practice scenarios can unfold. From alternative business models to cross-collaborations with other disciplines, the architect no longer merely engages in “problem-solving” but is engaged at “problem-forming”. In times of economic crisis and with an uncertain future looming, new forms of adaptation will emerge that will offer a diverse spectrum of approach to design, each offering a potential future for architectural practice.

The forum title is loosely based around a book, “Future Practice: Conversations from the Edge of Architecture”, authored by Rory Hyde and published in 2012. In the book, Rory Hyde documents seventeen conversations with practitioners from the fields of architecture, policy, activism, design, education, research, history, community engagement and more, each representing an emergent role for designers to occupy.
