PAM MEMBERS WILL ENJOY 50% REDUCTION IN THEIR MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTION FEE
PAM Council has decided to allow 50% reduction of pam membership subscription fee for all categories of membership for year 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the current COVID-19 Pandemic and economic recession, many parties are affected including our members. Many of our members including graduate members are affected by retrenchment, lay-off, salary cut, and many practitioners are unable to collect fee payment.
We are not in the position to give full financial assistance to our members to help their survival under this trying situation, however, we hope this will help to reduce the financial burdens of our members.
PAM Council also hope that this fee reduction will bring more architects and graduate architects to join PAM as members and also to assist existing members in renewing their membership subscriptions. PAM always value its members participations, as the strength of our Institute is from its large membership base.
PAM-GAHARA BATIK MILLENNIA STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION 2020
Gahara and PAM Education Committee will be collaborating on a design competition targeting architecture students to create a batik design for a copper block suited for millennials.
Designed to provide an opportunity for students to be part of the creative economy, this competition is unique as it exposes them to both batik and entrepreneurship that can help educate them about culture and how to help sustain the local arts and crafts community with their contribution.
Themed “Aspirana Millennia” to allow a wide girth of what excites the younger generation, the competition seeks students to explore and innovate ideas and to combine elements of architecture to create what they feel would be a suitable pattern for a batik print on fabric. The winning motif will be converted into a copper block and hopes to put a modern and fresh spin on batik not just for Gahara, but for the batik community in Malaysia.

Budget 2021 – for economic survival and social wellbeing
Budget 2021 is a people’s budget structured for economic survival and social wellbeing to help Malaysia get back into positive growth. Under Covid-19 pandemic, it is important to address the social issues and livelihoods of the people including the allocations for food and supplies, public healthcare system and access to education.
PAM welcomes the Government allocation in environment rehabilitation and protection, with more than RM500 million allocated for river cleaning, waste management, biodiversity protection and environment monitoring. It is hoped that law enforcement will be improved in protecting the environment and biodiversity to protect our natural resources including clean water sources.
The additional RM2 billion budgeted for continuing the Green Technology Financing Scheme will also help to contribute in our environment rehabilitation agenda.
The RM100 million allocation for new job creations and the GLC grants is expected not just to create new job opportunities for the Rakyat, but it will also be allocated for upskilling and reskilling of our youths and workers to have better opportunities and to be more productive in their job and businesses. A special incentive of 60% of the monthly salary provided for employment of local workers who are replacing foreign workers will also help in creating jobs for Malaysians.
Although we are under a pressing economic situation, it is most welcomed for the Government to proceed with economic corridor programmes including the transport infrastructure projects, highway and rails services. PAM would like to urge the government to be transparent in the procurement of all projects, and give priorities to Malaysian professionals and contractors to be engaged for the projects.
The digital transformation scheme would benefit the way businesses are conducted. Digital transformation through technological adoption using Building Information Modelling (BIM) will be a quantum leap to the construction industry. However, the efforts has lack of focus and so far has not achieved significant improvement. PAM hopes the budget will be used not just to acquire the software and hardware, but also to develop a structured system that will be able to focus on digital transformation through the creation of leaders in digitalisation.
Affordable housing ownership incentives are also hoped to improve the demand for houses. This will stimulate the construction industry and spur other related activities in the supply chain. The allocation under rural development budget will also help to improve the construction industry with RM2.7 billion allocation for infra-structure development and house improvement budget in the rural area.

Hello everyone, we hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.
As everyone know, we in Sabah are still in the Conditional MCO until 9 November, 2020.
We have a challenging time to decide to proceed or to postpone the virtual run. After much thought put into it, we decided to proceed with some adjustments.
We are extending the registration date until 15 November, 2020 so that more can register. However, we limit our registration to 160 slots, only about 20 slots left, so hurry and register before it is all taken up.
We are also extending the running period to 31 December, 2020. But if you run or walk on treadmill at home, you may start to submit your run/walk record from 1 November onwards.
We also decided to donate part of the collected fund to frontliners or groups that affected by the coronavirus.
Thanks for your support, stay safe and stay healthy.
P/s: Please submit your run or walk record (screenshot) to Bibie – 0165825001 via whatsapp or SMS. Please state your name as per your registration form, thank you.
